Something’s Gotta Give | Yarrow Point

An elegant Dutch Colonial-inspired home with a relaxed East Coast character

The homeowners wanted a home with the relaxed, timeless character of an East Coast house, inspired in part by the movie Something’s Gotta Give. On a wooded site in Yarrow Point overlooking Lake Washington, we designed a new home with a traditional shingle-style exterior, generous curves, and a strong connection to the landscape.

The architecture has a classic feel, but we wanted it to be comfortable and not overly formal. White shingle siding, curved details, and carefully proportioned windows give the exterior a relaxed character, while the interiors use white mill-work, natural materials, and darker wood floors to add warmth and depth.

Working with Susan Marinello Interiors, we carried the traditional character throughout the house while keeping the spaces light and livable. Architecture, interiors, and landscape were developed together by Paul Moon Design, creating a cohesive home that feels established, comfortable, and very much at home in Yarrow Point. The completed home was featured in Traditional Home Magazine.
